Credit and debit cards are great and easy to use payment instruments.  Unfortunately this makes it relatively easy to commit fraud.  The significant increase of card fraud over the last number of years has necessitated the payment card industry to introduce more rigorous measures to protect such data and reduce risk relating to card payments. PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) is a set of standards created by card issuers to ensure the security of credit card details whenever it is being transmitted, stored or processed.

  1. Developed by the founding payment brands of the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council, including American Express, JCB, MasterCard and Visa.
  2. The PCI DSS is a security standard that includes requirements for security management, policies, procedures, network architecture, software design and other critical protective measures.
  3. This comprehensive standard is intended to assist organisations to proactively protect their customers’ information.

QUALIFIED SECURITY ASSESSOR

Service Providers such as PAYM8 must validate compliance with an audit by a PCI DSS Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) Company each year.
